Stingray 3-Person Tree Tent (Review)

Combining the comfort of a hammock with the security and multi-occupancy of a regular tent, the Tentsile Stingray 3-Person Tree Tent seems to provide the best of both worlds. But does it really? Sure, the model has won some awards for its design, was featured in the MoMA in New York, and many camping enthusiasts sing it praises, but considering its rather steep price, is this really the best tent out there? Read on to find out.

About The Product

Designed and created by Tentsile, a relatively young company (founded in 2013) whose founder is an architect, the Stingray really does seem to boast some impressive features, including a truly practical yet innovative design. First of all, this portable tent weighs only 25 pounds yet comes with an 880-pound limit. Right off the bat, you can tell this is a multi-person type of a tent; in fact, it’s marketed as perfect for small groups and families. The reason why the Stingray can hold 3 adults and their gear or 2 adults and 2 children with no issues, is due to its ultra-durable 240D nylon-polyester composite fabric floor that’s also webbing-reinforced. Aside from being extra-sturdy, this material is also pretty comfy as it cushions and almost contours to the body. To top it off, the ultra-waterproof rainfly extends outwards from the tent, providing maximum protection. And if you want to watch the starry nights? No problem, the rainfly can also be easily removed. Another great thing about the Stingray – it comes with a tear-resistant mesh to protect you from mosquitoes and other insects. Of course, there’s storage space as well, with 3 internal storage nets for smaller items, and 3 underfloor nets for backpacks and other things.
